This Week in 7/8R: Curriculum, Volleyball Schedule, and Classroom Pictures

This week in Grade 7/8 we have been remembering those that protect our country by analyzing Remembrance Day poetry, working with integers, looking at onion cells (PPPPPEEEEUUUUUU) under a microscope, doing drama, singing to Taylor Swift at the top of our lungs, playing volleyball, watching our 10 Things We Should Do More Often videos, reading to our little buddies, running house leagues, and showing our allegiance to Arnie's Army!!!

Selling bracelets:  "Arnie's Army"

We have raised over $700 so far for the Furman family.  That is amazing!!!  We only have 260 kids at our school!  Outstanding!!

This Week:

Girls Volleyball:  Tues at  St. Chris, Thurs at CTK vs Notre Dame.
Playoffs will be held here at CTK on Tuesday, November 24th, starting at 2 pm.
The winner will advance to the University of Windsor to fight for the championship.

Curriculum:

Math:  Test on Monday on Integers.  Next we are working on transformational geometry.

English:  We are finishing up analyzing poetry with an independent assignment.  We will move on to locating the main idea in a newspaper article.  From there we will move to organizational patterns in writing:  sequence, cause and effect, problem and solution, compare and contrast-in essay form.

Science:  Quiz on everything we have learned so far on Tuesday.  Wed and Thursday we debate genetic testing!

Religion:  The 10 Commandments.  We also do "snapbox" in our classroom.  Each student receives the name of someone in the class.  From there, they write something kind about that person.  This remains anonymous.  Everyone places their paper in the box.  We choose one per day, and read it to the class.  The kids love it!!

Phys Ed:  Volleyball

Art:  We are working on our presentation for the upcoming Christmas Concert!!
