Writer’s Workshop: Poetry
After reading, analyzing, deciphering, and responding to many various poems, it is time to write our own poetry based on Remembrance Day.
Using the poems and newspapers available to you as inspiration, write your own poem based on Remembrance Day.
1: Create a brainstorming Web
2. Decide on what type of poem you will write. Choices are:
- Free Verse (no rhyming scheme)
- Rhyming AA, BB, AA, BB
- Rhyming AB AB AB AB
3. Now, write the rough draft of your poem. Type this. Include literary devices, especially vivid imagery.
4. Edit your poem. Reread it. Does it make sense.
5. When you have edited it, and had others do so as well, then Print it. Include a border around it.
Length: 3/4 of a page to a page.
