Dear Parents/Guardians,
Hello! My name is Suzanne Reaume, and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I have been teaching for ten years, most of which were spent at St. Mary’s School in Maidstone. I am overjoyed to be teaching at Christ the King again this year, and am looking forward to all the good things that 2015-16 will bring. This year I hope to help your child bring forth a zest for learning and an energy for school life!
I am including a classroom syllabus with this letter. It is an outline of my expectations for the students in the classroom and throughout the school. I believe it is important to put forth a strong effort in class, a friendly approach in the playground, and model appropriate behavior for the little ones.
Students will be using agendas daily in order to record homework and any important notes. You may also use the agenda to leave me messages as well. I will instruct the students to bring me their agenda in the morning if there is a message for me. Please remind your child to do so as well. Please initial your child’s agenda nightly.
I love teaching for many reasons, one being that teachers are always learning, just like their students. I look forward to learning and mastering all of the new programs there are out there, one specific program being “MYTOOLS2Go.” Every student will have a mytools2go account, where they can upload and create documents. In using this program, students can access every project they create on mytools2go, wherever they have an electronic device. This program will really benefit both students and teachers.
Also, we will be making regular visits to the Budamir Library. If your child does not have a library card, I will send home a form to be filled out by the parent, allowing the student their own personal card.
I feel it is important to point out that it is recommended that students have a pair of indoor running shoes to wear in the school. It is important for students to have the appropriate attire for safety reasons while participating in Physical Education.
I would like to thank you in advance for your participation in your child’s education for the upcoming 2015-16 school year. Please feel free to call me with any questions.
Yours in Catholic Education (and in making learning fun!),
Ms. Reaume

Ms. Reaume’s Grade 7 and 8 Class Guidelines
The following are a set of rules, regulations, and requirements for Grade 7 and 8 2015-16:
1. All students are expected to put forth their best effort in all areas: Attitude, Academics, Physical Education, School Participation.
2. All students will be responsible for their behavior at all times within the school. If there is a time where a student has made a poor choice, the student will follow the discipline outline below (depending on the severity of the situation, some steps may be skipped):
A) Warning
B) Recess Detention
C) Phone call home
D) Meeting with Administration
3. All students are expected to complete all homework and assignments on time. If work is not completed on time, parents will be notified in the agenda which will be sent home to be signed and returned to school.
4. Physical Education will take place three times a week, and outdoor or indoor fitness activities may take place on the days we do not have the gym. It is suggested that students have a pair of indoor running shoes, and wear running shoes to school. We will be running the beep test and doing aerobics, so the kids will need a change of clothes as well.
6. Students are encouraged to read nightly and practice multiplication and division facts at home on a regular basis. This will assist in all areas of learning.
8. Students will be keeping track of their marks in a personalized folder. Each month a rubric will be sent home with the marks your child has received on his/her assignments for the month. Please initial the rubric and return to school.
9. Assessment and Evaluation techniques have changed since we as parents have been in school. There is a much heavier emphasis on anecdotal notes, observation, and conferencing with students in order to determine where the student stands in a subject area, especially Mathematics. Please be aware that your child will be responsible for a “Math Journal” or as we call it, an “Assessment Focus Book” and it will be leveled, as well as tests and quizzes, but marks will also be received through conferencing and observations as well.
The reason that these guidelines are put in place is to ensure the utmost success for the students this year! Good luck! Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions.
Thank-you,
Ms. S Reaume
