Student Life is Getting Busy in 7/8R

Ahhhh...where is the time going?  It is almost October and I feel like time is flying...what a great bunch of kids we have in this class.  I am having so much fun teaching 7/8 this year.  CTK rocks, and the students are the reason why...we as educators are so lucky to work with such great kids!!

To catch you up on curriculum:

Math:  We are finishing our first unit on Number Sense and Numeration.  We covered Factoring and Multiples, Squares and Square Roots, Exponents and BEDMAS.  Our test is scheduled for Wednesday.

Reading:  We are working on making connections and writing a proper reader response.

Writing:  We are working on paragraph format and descriptive writing

Media:  Creating an advertisement to appeal and convince the general population.

Science (Gr 7):  We are working on pure substances and mixtures.

Phys-Ed:  We are running the beep test weekly, engaging in various fitness activities, and doing aerobics on Wednesdays.

Religion:  We are wrapping up our mini unit on the gifts of the Holy Spirit

Arts:  Various visual art, dance, and drama techniques

Our School Community:

We held student elections on Friday.  It was a tight race, but only four people could be elected out of  eleven.  The following students were chosen:

Frankie Facchineri
Alyssa Gibson
Michael S
Mila Schiavo

Our class has started partnering up with the SK/Gr 1 class every other Friday to read together.  The focus is to improve primary literacy, leadership, and promote a sense of family and community.
