Learning Goal: Current Events
Students will demonstrate an understanding of what is going on in the world around them, and prepare a discussion for the class in order to have more informed opinions.
Requirements:
- Choose an article from the newsela website, newspaper, or magazine.
- On Thursdays one student will present their article and lead a discussion about its' content.
- Photocopies must be made for the class, therefore the teacher must have the article to approve and copy for the class by Wed.
- Discussion will be two-three questions prepared by you, the presenter, that will be analyzed in small groups.
- Appropriate video clips may accompany your presentation.
- Articles must be retrieved from a nonbiased reputable source.
- Response: A Reader Response Question will be given by the presenter for the class to answer in their Reader Response Journal.

- TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership)
- Unemployment Rates
- US Election
- Trudeau's plans for Canada
