This Week in Grade 7/8

We are now back in the swing of things!  It's almost like we had never left...the kids have fallen right back into routine.

This week in Curriculum:

Math:  Area and Perimeter of triangles, parallelograms, rectangles, trapezoids, irregular shapes and circle (perimeter of a circle is circumfrence).  The formulas have been posted in the classroom.  

We will also be constructing circles.

Literacy:  We will begin writing speeches this week in the form of a writer's workshop.  Two seperate marks will be given:  one for the written speech, and one for the oral presentation.  Rubrics soon to come.

Grammar:  We have studied prepositions, prepositional phrases, conjunctions and nouns.  We will be looking at adverbs, adjectives, and dissecting the sentence this week.

Health:  Grade 7:  Benefits and Dangers of Technology.  Gr 8:  How to Combat Mental Illness.

Pamphlets are due Wednesday.

Science:  Grade 7s:  We are studying structures, strength and stability.

Gym:  Fitness (beep test and tabata), and basketball

Religion:  The Nicene Creed
