I had a rough week last week...our whole house (including the dog) was gifted the WORST stomach virus on the face of the planet. I was out most of the week last week. When I finally emerged from the illness haze, I realized my computer was missing! After searching high and low, my husband finally found it in my son's toy room.
Soooo, now we are back on track! Here's what's going on in 7/8R lately:
Math: Yesterday we wrote our Math test on Geometry. We will now begin our unit on algebra. If you want to work with your kids at home on simple one variable problems, that would help them immensely in the classroom. We are focusing on isolating the variable.
IE: 2x + 3 = 11
2x + 3 -3 = 11 - 3
2x = 8
2x / 2 = 8/2
x = 4
Language: We are wrapping up our novel study unit. The kids have a choice between creating a movie trailer, a music video, or a talk show with commercials. I will post the assignment outline. This is a cross-curricular project between media and reading.
We will also be writing an essay on the novel.
We are just finishing up the last writer's workshop this week.
Religion: We are presenting The Stations of the Cross. We are working very hard on our live presentation.
Science: The Gr 7s are wrapping up their unit on force. Our test will be on Tuesday. We will be building bridges over the next week or so,
Arts: We are focusing on a lip synch battle that will be performed this Wed!
Classroom Pictures will be posted today.
School Info:
We are still collecting items for the Syrian Refugees. We will present them to Elaine Damphousse from the Diocese of London on Holy Thursday.
The Grade 8s are busy preparing for Winterfest this Friday.
Confirmation is coming up in April.
Muskoka Packages will be sent home before March Break.
