Writing a Short Story
Using one of the pictures from “The Mysteries of Harris Burdick,” you will write your own short story.
1. Create a brainstorm web.
2. Create an outline for your story as taught to you in class.
3. Type your rough draft. Ensure that is has all of the elements of a short story. Ensure you have implemented literary devices as well. (eg: similes, metaphors, personification, irony etc.) Use these appropriately, where they make sense in your story.
4. Edit your story. Share it with a friend. Conference with your teacher.
5. Create a title page for your story. This must be hand drawn. It must include the title, the author (you) and graphics that represent the story.
Timeline:
Rough draft due: Thursday, November 5th
Good Copy with Title Page due: Wednesday, November 10th.Hard Copy of Rubrics provided.
