This Week in 7/8R

This week was busy as usual in our class!

Administrative duties included:  recycling, selling milk, selling chips, lunch monitoring and more!

Building community activities included:  reading buddies, preparing for the house league assembly, preparing for our mass this Wed, walking to Corpus Christi with the Gr 3 students and more!

Student Council:  Mila chose the most beautiful prayer video to show at the assembly with the theme of thanksgiving.  They are eagerly preparing a school dance for October 29th in the afternoon as well. All four members did a great job snapping pictures of each class depicting "love," as it is our theme for this year.  At the end of the day nothing matters more than feeling loved and loving others. This theme "It's All About Love" is dedicated lovingly to our beautiful CTK teacher Mrs. B

Notes:
Please return your form indicating you understand that you do not have to drop your child off at the church Wed AM
Please return any vaccination forms and/or Anne Frank field trip forms
A note went home Friday about the ropes field trip for Grade 7s
PICTURE DAY IS THIS TUESDAY!

Curriculum Corner:

English:  The kids were assigned a book talk to be presented the week of October 26th.  The students have already begun to improve on their word study work.  Awesome job!  We will begin analyzing short stories this week, and writing our own.  The book below is a great book to use around Halloween as a resource for writing short stories.  Every year I do this and every year I am so impressed with the kids come up with.

Math:  We have started patterning instead of area and perimeter.  We are following a new Math program that was introduced to Intermediate teachers.  The students seem to be enjoying it, and I know I am learning a lot about using new methods and strategies to teach math in the classroom.

Science:  The Gr 7s will be completing their first lab this week.  They are excited about experiments, and they are learning so much.  I love watching them get excited about Science!
This weeks topics include the rate of dissolving, concentration of solutions, and seperating mixtures.

Phys-Ed:  This month we will continue fitness activities and add in some volleyball.

Religion:  The students finished their thanksgiving prayers.  All I have to say is "Wow..."

Arts:  We have been dancing since day 1, and loving it!  We will be building haunted houses over the next two weeks, so if you have any boxes shoe box sized or smaller please bring them in!  (Eg:  granola bar boxes, garbage bag boxes, cereal boxes, etc...).

Levi and Alex, our class tech guys, showing the LOVE!

Student Council-they LOVE each other!

Happy Birthday Clo!  We hope you like your crown!

Sierra:  "Hey, where is my crown?  It's my birthday tomorrow!"
Poor Emily...Sierra!  Move your arm!

That's better!
