This Week in 7/8R

Happy Halllooowwweeeeekkk....Muhahaha...

This week we are jam packed!

We are selling candy grams all week for $1 each.  They will be sold at lunchtime, by our social justice club.  Proceeds go to charity.  If you would like to purchase a candy gram for your child please send the money in a sealed envelope with a written message.  We can copy the message onto candy gram paper for you, and deliver it to your child on Friday!

Don't forget-we are allowed to dress up this year in costumes!  Wahoo!
We are also having a dance in the gym on Friday afternoon for the senior classes.

The Grade 7s are heading to Gesstwood Camp on Wednesday, October 28th.  We are away all day having fun!  Please remember to dress for playing outside and climbing tall towers.

Curriculum:

Math:  We are starting a unit on integers and transformational geometry on Monday.  Unit 2 Tests will be sent home one night this week!

Reading:  We are presenting book talks all week, as well as studying literary devices.  Last week we read "A Tell Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe.  This week we will analyze the piece and find the following literary devices:

  • hyperbole
  • irony
  • symbolism
  • simile
  • metaphor
  • personification
  • onomatopoeia
  • foreshadowing
  • alliteration
  • repetition
  • analogy
The students will be using the website "softschools.com" on the chromebooks to assist them in this task.

Writing:  We will be working on our short stories.  There will be no word study this week.

Science:  The Grade 7s are wrapping up their unit on pure substances and mixtures.  Test on Thursday.  Review was given last week.  Lab Reports will be returned soon.

Religion:  We will be taping our "10 Things We Should Say and Do More Often" this week.
